Kohima, July 4 (MExN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) has informed that the National Lok Adalat will be set up in all the District Court Premises on July 14 to settle disputes and cases.
Nungsang C. Jamir, Nodal Officer for National Lok Adalat, NSLSA stated in a press release that the Lok Adalat (People’s Court) will be held all over the State of Nagaland.
Under the Lok Adalat, the citizens has the privilege to dispose their case at free of cost with no court fee and Lawyer fee, quick and effective settlement/resolution of disputes and cases. Also the award (decision) pass before the Lok Adalat is deemed to be a decree of a civil court, final and binding on all parties and no further appeal against such an award lies before any court of law, he added.
The cases which are presently pending in the courts at various levels and the cases at pre-limitative stages i.e. prior to approaching the Courts can be referred before the National Lok Adalat for disposal and settlement.
Types of cases for settlement
The types of cases which can be taken up for settlement are Labour disputes cases; Electricity and Water Bills (excluding non-compoundable), Others (Criminal Compoundable, Matrimonial and other Civil disputes), Criminal Compoundable Offence; NI Act cases under Section 138; Bank Recovery cases; MACT cases; Labour disputes cases; Electricity and Water Bills (excluding non-compoundable); Matrimonial disputes; Land Acquisition cases; Service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits; Revenue cases (pending in District Courts and High Courts only); Other civil cases (rent, easmentary rights, injunction suits, specific performance suits)etc.
Information on listing matters
The citizens are informed that for listing matters in the National Lok Adalat on July 14 which are pending in the High Court/District Courts (other than at the Supreme Court of India) whether at pre-litigation stage or pending, you/your counsel (Lawyer) may send your consent (or) contact the Member Secretary of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (or) approach the Secretary/Chairman of the respective District Legal Services Authority which are attached to the District Court Building in every Districts or the concerned Court immediately for referring the case to the National Lok Adalat.
