Nat’l Kung Fu C’ship: State wins two silver medals

Nagaland gets first representative in IKFF Hall of Fame Mokokchung, May 17 (MExN): Two players representing the All Nagaland Kung Fu Association (ANKFA) won silver medals at the recently held 14th National Kung Fu Championship 2016 at Shevgaon, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.   The national championship, organized by the Indian Kung Fu Federation and hosted by All Maharashtra Kung Fu Federation, was held from May 8 to 10, a press release from the ANKFA informed.  

The two players representing Nagaland were: Toshimeren, from Mokokchung, who won his silver medal in the 70 kg category in Sanda (sparring) competition; and Kalam Khan, from Dimapur, who won his silver medal in the 56 kg category in sparring.   Meanwhile, Bendangakum and Waluniba who were awarded National Referee Certificates by the IKFF recently officiated some of the matches in the national championship as referees in both Taolu (Kata) and Sanda (Sparring) segments of the competition.   Bendangakum, who is also the president of ANKFA, was also inducted into the IKFF Hall of Fame class of 2016, the first Kung Fu player from Nagaland to achieve the feat.   ANKFA congratulates Bendangakum and his team representing Nagaland, who reached Mokokchung last evening, for bringing laurels to the state.
