Nazareth School Pfütsero crowned Phek’s best girls band

The winners and other participating bands with dignitaries during the grand finale of Phek district Girls Music Band Competition at Phek on August 3.

 

Nazareth School Pfütsero was declared the winner of the Phek District Girls Music Band Competition at the grand finale held at Badminton Stadium, Phek on August 3. 


Government Higher Secondary School, Phek and St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Meluri stood first and second runner-up respectively.


Under the theme, “Your Voice Your strength,” the competition was organised under the aegis of District Administration, Phek in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women - Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek.


 The event was part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme. 


Gracing the occasion, Phek deputy commissioner Sachin Jaiswal maintained that the competition has made a huge impact in spreading the message of education and participation of a girl child which is one the objective of BBBP scheme. 


Veposelu Naroh, District Coordinator, DLCW, Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek, said that the event theme had been brought forth because music being a universal language which gives voice to the voiceless and hope to the hopeless. 


She also encouraged the participants to remember that “they are the voice of a thousand of voiceless girls in our society.”


Panel of judges were Keyirangding Hegui, Project Director, DRDA Phek, Mezivolu T Therieh, District and Sessions Judge Phek and Khrowutso Letro, Director Jubal Centre for Music & Arts.


Therieh in her remark appreciated the District Administration Phek, and DLCW MSK Phek for providing a platform to the girls to display their talents.


T  Lemlila Sangtam SDO (C) Phek, declared the winners of the competition.


Certification for successful completion of self defence course in Taekwondo was also presented to Residential Girls Hostel Phek.


Vileno Kapu, Aman Kumar Thakur, Kuliivelii Swuro, Samuel Pohena and Meyiete Krome also enthralled the gathering with special performance.


The programme was chaired by Vileno Kapu, Women Welfare Officer, District Level Centre for Women, Manila Shakti Kendra Phek while Avikuotho Ngouri, District Coordinator DLCW MSK Phek proposed vote of thanks.
