NBCC pays homage to late Rev Billy Graham

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) today issued a statement paying homage to the late Rev Billy Graham who passed away on February 21.

The NBCC stated that Billy Graham was the “greatest evangelist of the 20th century.” “While the legacy he has left could be remembered by his associations with great world leaders, whom he counselled, or by the millions who heard him speak, he will be remembered most by the countless number of people who turned their lives over to Jesus Christ,” it said.

The NBCC termed Graham’s evangelical work as “remarkable,” and added: “No wonder God chose him to be his spokesperson during our time and we salute him as a great stalwart of the Gospel and an inspiration for the generations to come.”

It added that the Baptists of Nagaland fondly remembers him for the Crusade he conducted in Kohima in 1972, coinciding with the 100 years of Christianity in Nagaland. This “mighty man of God,” the NBCC stated has made an “eternal imprint on the lives of many who are in the forefront of the Gospel ministry today.”

“While we mourn his sad demise we celebrate his life, his ministry and the eternal glory he now enjoys. Billy Graham was loved by many and will be missed,” it added.
