NBCC Women Department’s 12th triennial convention underway

Pughoboto, October 21 (MExN): The 12th triennial convention of Nagaland Baptist Church Council Women Department began on October 21 under the theme ‘Oneness in Christ’. A three-day long event, the convention is being hosted by Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SABAK) Women Department, Pughoboto.  

In the inaugural service, introduction of the program was made by Visasieü Dolie, Women Secretary, NBCC and Teli Sheqi, Women Secretary, SABAK welcomed the delegates on behalf of the host association.  

Rev. Hotokhu Zhimomi, SABAK Executive Secretary in his greetings encouraged the women delegates by citing the example of two women from Pughoboto area who established a village and in which one of them became head of the village after her husband passed away. He also informed that SABAK has given license to five women for pastoral ministry. 

Avelu Ruho, ADC Pughoboto also conveyed greetings, where she pointed out that Naga society is divided and the only solution is to come together as one in Christ.  

Dr. Joshua Lorin, Associate Professor, Oriental Theological Seminary, who delivered the message, emphasized on having the same mind in fulfilling oneness in Christ. He pointed out that Naga Christianity is going through intense crises and therefore only oneness in Christ will save Naga Christianity again. He also stressed on the importance of baptism on the Holy Spirit to have the same mind.  

The other resource persons for the convention are Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Associate Professor, Clark Theological College, Juliet Shikhu, Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Dimapur, Rev. Ellen Konyak Jamir, Assistant Professor, Oriental Theological Seminary, and Santi Keyho.
