NBCC youth triennial cum 33rd session underway at Tseminyu

A three day long youth triennial-cum-33rd session of the youth department of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) got underway here at Tseminyu Town Baptist Church with Council of Rengma Baptist Churches (CRBC) as host.

Talking to media persons, NBCC Youth Secretary, Rev. Vikuo Rhi said the youth triennial is held once in three years to have better fellowship within the Baptist family especially the young people under the NBCC motto “Fellowship, Proclamation, Service.”  

He said the main focus of this year triennial conference surrounds the theme “Let your light shine.” He said the idea behind choosing this theme is to let the youth especially the young people in Nagaland “be the light to the world and particularly to Nagaland.”  

Regretting that our society is undergoing so many things in darkness, he said “Being a Christian we should be the light to the world and try to bring changes into our society. That is why we have chosen this theme to let every individual or our young people to keep on shining.”  

Rev. Rhi said the youth department is not planning to bring out any sort of resolution through this conference but in its board meeting on October 13, it vowed to do its best in the clean election campaign with sincerity and commitment.  

The triennial conference began on October 13 with flag hoisting by NBCC youth department president Hekato Awomi followed by worship service. Rev. Liangchhunga Khiangte, organizer Mizoram Thalai Kristian Pawl (MTKP), Baptist Church of Mizoram shared the word of God this afternoon. Earlier, CRBC executive secretary Haiwalo Apon shared greetings.  

Today’s session witnessed special appearances from YBBA, CRBC Youth Choir Kohima and solo from Rosy K. Remsangpuii from Mizoram. The conference featured reporting/business session today where all the 20 youth associations gave reports through power point presentation.  

“We also have family group prayer among the young people from different tribes/ associations,” he said adding that youth are divided into groups and share their needs and prayer points and pray together to have closer relationship. For the first time, the NBCC youth department also introduced youth talent exhibition cum sale and from there youth demonstrates and expose whatever they make with their own hand.  

Rev. Rhi also said that “Colour Night” is a kind of youth celebration where the youth expose their talents in different fields.  

Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary NBCC, Rev. Liangchhunga Khiangte, Dr. Akum Longchari, editor The Morung Express, Hekato Awomi, president NBCCYD and Arhunlo Semp, secretary development department CRBC will also speak on October 15. Greetings will also be shared by Lalmuanawna Sailo from Mizoram.  

Installation of new office bearers will take place on October 15.
