NB&HM conducts training for beekeepers

Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NB&HM) successfully conducted a series of beekeeping training for beekeepers at different locations across the State starting in the month of February 2019. 

Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission in a press release stated that the trainees included existing beekeepers and agricultural and horticultural farmers from the villages. The objective of the training was to impart scientific knowledge on managing bee colonies and for introduction of bee colonies in farming areas for enhanced crop productivity through the pollination service of honey bees. The training's were held under the RKVY scheme, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, GOI. 

The villages that were trained include Yachem village (Longleng district), Yachang A village (Mokokchung district), Mon Village (Mon district), Sirhi Angami village (Dimapur district), Shiponger village (Tuensang district), Ghatashi village (Zunheboto district), Sutsu village (Phek district) Tutheze village (Kiphire district), Longsa village (Wokha district) and Nchangram village (Peren district). 

Training under Peducha village (Kohima district) is slated to be held by last week of February 2019. 

Around 275 beekeepers and farmers were covered under these training programmes. NBHM distributed bee boxes and tool kits to the beneficiaries after the training programme.
