Kiphire, May 11 (MExN): Former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate of Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency Lithriyem Yimchunger along with all his supporters has merged with Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on May 10.
Informing this in a press release, NDPP Kiphire Region president, Tsaseto Sangtam stated that the NCP functionaries, including office bearers and village unit workers, formally declared to join the NDPP.
They also resolved to extend support to the PDA consensus candidate Tokheho Yepthomi in the ensuing Lok Sabha bye-election, it said.
Tsaseto Sangtam, president, NDPP Kiphire Region while welcoming the members expressed his desire for the young and energetic leaders to lead the district. He urged the members to pay allegiance to the party principles and work collectively for all round development.
“The members who joined NDPP expressed their confidence that the party under the visionary leadership of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister and Chingwang Konyak, President NDPP Nagaland would usher in peace, progress and prosperity in the region,” according to the release.
