NDPP responds to Zeliang’s complaint on Vigilance Commissioner appointment

Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): In response to the complaint letter of TR Zeliang, Leader of Opposition regarding the appointment of Mayang Lima as the State Vigilance Commissioner, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today reiterated that “all due procedures were followed by the Government in the appointment of the State Vigilance Commissioner.”

Asserting that no procedures have been bypassed or overlooked, the party in a statement issued by Media and Communications Committee maintained that “the person in question is a renowned legal luminary whom Nagas as a whole should be proud of on reaching such a revered position in the interest of transparency and accountability of the Government’s day to day functioning.”

Mayang Lima, it added, has had “an unblemished track record in the course of his profession and service in the Government.” Therefore, the Leader of Opposition has “no moral authority whatsoever to question the integrity and capability of the appointee in any manner.”
