Nagaland registered an astounding 13-0 win against Tripura today at the NE Dr T Ao Trophy at the IG Stadium, Kohima and entered the semi final of the tournament.  

 


In their second round of matches, Tripura who had suffered an 11-0 loss to Manipur on the opening day, bore the brunt of Nagaland’s attack. 

 


It was goals galore for the hosts as Rhitsho Mero scored five while teammate Khwetelhi Thopi netted four.

 


Mero started off the goal fest in the 10th minute. Tripura managed to keep the score-line to 1-0 till the 40th minute after which the floodgates opened. Three goals by Thopi and one more by Mero followed in quick succession within a span of 6 minutes as the whistle blew for half time.

 


At the start of the second half, Mero resumed his phenomenal performance with two more goals in the 55th and 69th minutes. Only a minute after, Sinenlo Kath also got into the score-sheet.

 


Nagaland’s 10th goal of the match came through Ratobe N Poireng, with three more goals quickly following through Thopi, Mero and Kethosilie Zatsu. 

 


Nagaland now lead the Group A Table with 6 points, followed by Manipur with 4 points, Arunachal Pradesh with 1 point & Tripura yet to register a point. 

 


Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur played out a 1-1 draw.

 


Arunachal scored through Charu Lalum in the 27th minute while the equalizer for Manipur came through M Clinton Singh in the 30th minute.
