NEC funded ISBT Mkg inaugurated

MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 1 (DIPR): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has dedicated Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Mokokchung to the people and travelers of the State. Inaugurating the NEC funded Rs. 7.50 crore multi storeyed building with all modern facilities Chief Minister said it would provide more convenient to the travelers and usher in economic progress.
In his inaugural speech, Neiphiu Rio urged upon the Transport Department to make the newly constructed ISBT Mokokchung a centre for all transport operators including those private operators. He said as of now people may feel that the ISBT is little away from the town, but he reminded that it is hardly three kilometers away from the main Mokokchung town as compared to other towns and cities.
Expressing his gratitude to the Transport Department for timely completion of the Multi-storeyed ISBT building with all modern amenities, Chief Minister called upon the people of Mokokchung, and Khensa village to keep congenial atmosphere to the travelers and operators. Rio also sought active cooperation from public in maintenance of public assets created by the government saying that such assets are for the welfare and benefits of the people.
Advisor Planning, North East Council, J. Lhungdim IDAS, in his speech said NEC is granting fund for construction of ISBT in the North East. He said Sikkim has made remarkable achievements in construction of ISBT followed by Nagaland State. Lhungdim assured that NEC would continue to provide fund to the State to expedite over all development of the State. Parliamentary Secretary, Transport & Mechanical Engineering Dako Phom who was the guest of honour at the inaugural function said, ISBT Mokokchung is the second ISBT in the State after Dimapur and the third ISBT in Kohima would soon be completed while the fourth ISBT in Tuensang is progressing well.
In his welcome address, Lanukaba, President, Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that the ISBT Mokokchung should not be left like a haunted place. He felt that all buses and taxis should be allowed to operate from the ISBT. He hoped that it would ease traffic congestion in the town. The inaugural function chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Ghishi was attended by Home Minister Imkong L. Imchen, Dr.Chumben Murry, Minister for Agriculture, Nuklutoshi MLA and Toshipokba MLA, senior officials and the public.
