The North East Development Agency (NEDA) today conducted a seminar on community led total sanitation at the DC Conference Hall with focus on clean environment where 11 ward members, leaders, churches and women participated.
Speaking at the programme, Pipenthung, Kiphire District Coordinator Swachh Bharat asked the gathering to keep the environment clean and tidy, encouraged all to plant flowers and tree to beautify the town and advised to put up bamboo basket in every nook and corner. He also suggested collecting Rs. 30-50 every month each household as the present collection of Rs. 100 yearly is not sufficient for the garbage carrier to carry the waste. Pipenthung also said that clean environment will lead to healthy life and asked the members present to be a promoter of healthy environment.
Members present also shared during the seminar as to how the work is going on in relation to Swachh Bharat. The programme is sponsored by Tata Trust.
