‘Need more awareness to improve health outcomes’

Tuensang, December 1 (MExN): The Tuensang District observed World AIDS Day at CKS hall Tuensang Town with DIG (R/ NAP) Tuensang Rajashekare IPS as the guest speaker on December 1.


The programme was organised by the District AIDS prevention and Control Unit in collaboration with the Network of Tuensang District People living with HIV/AIDS and Tuensang District Legal Services Authority.


Speaking at the programme, Rajashekare noted that to eliminate the HIV/AIDS cases in the country, we need to create more awareness to improve health outcomes. He urged the district AIDs prevention Control unit (DAPCU) to create more awareness on HIV/AIDs among college students.


Kumpilong, Judicial Magistrate Tuensang, briefly highlighted the Rights of HIV/AIDS patients under the Indian Constitution of Article-14, Article-15, Article -19, Article-21 and Article-32, Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, employment or occupation, healthcare services, right to reside and purchase, rent or occupy property.


District scenario was presented by Athisa, DIS DAPCU. Pastor Tenyimi church, Sentilo pronounced a special prayer for the PLHIVs who lost their lives with HIV/AIDS, while special number was presented by Red Ribbon Club Sao Chang College Tuensang.


The programme was chaired by Senti, Counsellor MICTC IDS, which began with an invocation by Yangten, Pastor Nagamese Baptist Church.  The key note address was delivered by Chongshen, DPO DAPCU, and Vote of thanks was proposed by Setongpi, Project Coordinator, CSC VIHAAN.
