Phek, June 14 (MExN): World Blood Donor Day was observed at CMO Conference Hall on June 14, jointly organised by Blood Bank DH, Phek and DAPCU Phek under the theme ‘Blood connects us all: share life, give blood’ with Dr. Rongsen, Pathologist SMO DH, Phek as the resource speaker.
Dr. Rongsen highlighted the importance of voluntary free blood donation. He said the event serve to thank voluntary unpaid donors for their life saving gift of blood and encourages the gathering to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donation to ensure quality, safety and availability of blood for patients in need. He explained the key fact of blood donation, myth and misconception and motivates the participants to donate blood to save someone’s life.
Ate Venuh, General Secretary, Phek Town Youth Society exhorted the gathering and called upon the participants to raise awareness on blood donation and respond to the call of society whenever needed situation arises. Theputo Venuh, President, Phek Town Chakhesang Students Union in his testimonial sharing urged the participants to donate blood to saves someone’s life as there is no substitution for blood donation.
Around 150 participants attended the programme including students from Royal Foundation School Phek, CMO Staffs, NHM, NVBDCP, DTC Staff, Phek Town Youth Society members (PTYS), Members from Phek Town Students Union (PTSU).
The programme was chaired by Kuduvo Kezo DPO, DAPCU Phek. Shevotalu invoked the blessing, welcome speech by Hierhotho Kajiri DIS, DAPCU Phek and it concluded with a vote of thanks by Velato Nienu DA-M&EA DAPCU Phek.
