NEIGRIHMS conferred KAYAKALP Award

Newmai News Network Shillong | April 23   The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) added another feather to its cap when the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, J P Nadda conferred the KALYAKALP Award 2017 to the health institute for standing first among Central Government run hospitals and institutions under Swachht Bharat Mission.   Swatchh Bharat is a mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to streamline the Swatchhta in hospitals, Government of India initiated Kayakalp awards in the year 2015.   In 2015, NEIGRIHMs stood third in the ranking under the Kayakalp scheme. The gaps detected in 2015 were rectified in 2016 with a missionary zeal and NEIGRIHMS, by a little margin to AIIMS New Delhi, was placed second.   Bettering its performance once again, NEIGRIHMS placed first in group ‘B’ Hospitals and Institutions among Central Government run hospitals and institutions for the year 2018, the results of which were declared recently.   A representative team headed by the Director Prof.(Dr.) D. M. Thappa, along with members of Kalyakalp formally received the cheque worth Rs.1.5 Crores, a citation, and a certificate on April 19, 2018 in RML Hospital, New Delhi.   Dr. Thappa has congratulated all the stakeholders of NEIGRIHMS for this achievement. He complimented the dedication of all the doctors and officials who worked hard for the past one year to get the first rank in the Swatchhta assessment scheme.   “It is a moment of honour for all the stakeholders of NEIGRIHMS”, the Director said. He stressed for maintenance of the rank in the coming years. He further assured that he would request the Government to review the decision of keeping the hospital in group B Hospitals and Institutions.
