NEISSR Annual Sports Week concludes

Dimapur, September 24 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Science & Research  (NEISSR) conducted its Annual Sports week at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Campus, Dimapur from September 22 to 24.   According to a press release, the sports event was declared opened by Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Principal, Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Anil, Branch Manager, South Indian Bank, Dimapur was the Guest of Honour for the opening ceremony of the Annual sports.   Dr. C.P. Anto, Principal, NEISSR, in his welcome address spoke on the need of developing a spirit of healthy competition among the students through the sports events. “Competing fairly with the human values and principle in mind is very much essential for the growth of our society,” he said. He asserted that sports is not just to be enjoyed but should teach us to compete fairly. Dr. Xalxo in his address exhorted that the annual sport events should help the students to think and develop a spirit which will stand against odds and injustice as they furlong in their journey of the helping profession – social work.   “Like sportspersons who gave their all till the end, the students as future social workers should condition their attitude so as not to give up in the face of opposition while ensuring the rights of people you will come across in your lives,” he said.   The three day event comprised of different sports discipline competed among the students who were grouped under Patkai, Saramati, Tiyi and Japfü houses, named after the mountain peaks of Nagaland.
