North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR), Dimapur on Wednesday observed its 2nd Foundation cum Graduation Day at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur campus with Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof Pardeshi Lal as the chief guest.
Addressing the graduating students of Masters in Social Work, Prof Lal said that they have to be instrumental in recognizing the major issues in the society and to work out solutions as well. “MSW as a professional course is not only about identifying problems but to work out solutions for it,” he added.
With different societies having different requirements and issues, the VC told the graduating students that they have to be in the track about the need of the society. He urged them to make a true realization to their soul.
Later, Prof Lal handed over certificates to the 43 graduating students.
Principal, NEISSR, Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto encouraged the students to be self-starters instead of being kick-started by others as they venture out into the field of social works.
Thomas Kikon, Member Governing Body, NEISSR urged the students to translate their learning into action as they reach out to the society and be the change that they have been taught to be.
Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese also addressed the gathering during the programme marked by special numbers and cultural presentations.
