NEISSR observes 6th annual sports meet

The North East Institute of Social Science and Research conducted its annual sports meet from September 12 to 14.

 

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): The 6th annual sports meet of the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) Dimapur was held from September 12 to 14 September 2019 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Campus, Dimapur under the theme ‘Respect all, play like champions.’ 


A press release from NEISSR stated that on day 1, the opening session was chaired by P Pangniba Andrew and Rev. Fr. John Poji, Vice-principal cum administrator offered the invocation. Welcome address was delivered by Angam Phom, President Students Council NEISSR followed by a special song by Kesihang.


Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto, Principal exhorted by stating that sportsis an integral part of academic program and student’s life. He encouraged the students to exercise healthy competitive spirit. After which declaration of annual sports meet ensued.


The highlight of the 3 days sports meetwere cheerleading, oath taking, football, volleyball, penalty shootout, bamboo race, 100 meter race, obstacle race, Frisbee game, high jump, rally race,and for which the students were divided into four teams.


On the last day, the closing ceremony was graced by K. Phyobemo Lotha, District Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) as the chief guest. The chief guest in his speech spoke on sports being an integral part of one’s life. He emphasized on mental, physical and emotional well-being for one’s growth. He further stated that sports teaches many lessons. Drawing from his own personal experience he shared how sportshelped him overcome failures and exercise the ability to understand people.


The event was chaired by Elizabeth Pojar and Fr. Joseph offered the invocation. Welcome address and presentation was delivered by Nyangpong B. Konyak, General Secretary, Student’s council NEISSR, followed by a special number by Imtisenla Kubzari and Kelekono Chase. 


Rev. Fr. John Poji delivered a short speech where he emphasized on the three steps in order to succeed in life i.e. to have clarity in mind about one’s goal, to keep focus on that goal, and to concentrate on it. The 6th annual sports meet concluded with a vote of thanks by Keyiterei, Games and Sports Secretary followed by a feast.
