Kiphire, December 8 (MExN): The newly constructed Welcome Gate of Sitimi town, in commemoration of the Kiphire Tuensang District Sumi Students’ Union 25th Anniversary celebration was inaugurated on December 7 by Nchumthung Ezung, EAC Sitimi. Nchumthung Ezung speaking on the occasion opined that Sitimi town is a land of potential and stressed on development perspective that development cannot take place by the effort of the MLA alone but it’s the collective responsibility of the people. He lamented that development cannot takes place without peace and the key lies in ”self control”, to speak less and think twice before one speak.


The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Merikali, Sunday School Supervisor, key note address by Bothuka President KTDSSU, in his short speech emphatically stated to let the gate be a channel of peace among the people living in the area. Short speeches were also delivered by Sitimi Town Visuho head GB and Vihoi GB Sangtam.


Tribunal Chairman Hokugha delivered vote of thanks, while benediction was said by Catechist, St Jose Church Sitimi. The programme was attended by both the sumi and sangtam communities of sitimi town and GBs from the Sitimi area.


The KTDSSU in a press release thanked Robert Heoto of Sitimi Village who has sponsored in building this historic structure and for his dedication and contributions towards the students’ community in particular and the entire population of Sitimi area in general.
