DPC condemns harassment of media persons
Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): Dimapur Press Club (DPC) today condemned the verbal harassment meted out to journalists covering the ongoing bandh by some volunteers monitoring the bandh in Dimapur. “It is not the first instance that journalists covering the bandh reports have faced such verbal harassment. Journalists on duty are being directed by volunteers not to move around constantly without understanding the sense of duty of a journalist,” DPC stated in a press statement. Condemning such “ignorant behaviour” of volunteers, the DPC requested the volunteers to understand the contribution made by journalists and restrain themselves from such behaviour. Meanwhile, the DPC appealed to the organisations concerned to see that security of journalists on duty are ensured.
FGN Sumi Region expresses sadness
Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): The Sumi Region of FGN has expressed sadness at the “untimely” demise of Lt. Col. Nitoi Sumi on February 10 at NEIGHRIMS, Shillong after a brief illness. Further, the FGN Sumi Region in a condolence message from its Midan Peyu, Vikihe Zhimomi conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
AR hold interaction programme in Phek
Phek, February 14 (MExN): 46 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized an interaction with GBs and youth leaders of Phek Town with an aim to spread awareness about civic assistance and job opportunities for youths and locals of the region on February 10. The event was attended by representatives from various village councils and youth organisations of the region, informed a press release issued by Assam Rifles. The participants, according to the release, pledged to work together towards development and maintaining peace, law and order in the region.
