ANPTA condemns alleged threat, insult

Kohima, May 19 (MExN): All Nagaland Polytechnic Teacher’s Association (ANPTA) has expressed shock and condemned the “unruly behaviour” of Hekishe Chishi, who reportedly “offended and threatened” the faculty members of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) on May 18 around 4:00 pm while they were playing badminton in the institute’s multi-purpose hall. “This is not the first time he has propagated such similar incident, intruding and creating disturbance inside the campus which hinders the working environment of the faculties and staffs,” alleged a press statement issued by ANPTA President, Lanusenla Longkumer and Vice President, Keduhiwe Kapfo. It maintained that such kind of insults and threats should neither become a norm nor condoned in a civilised society. Meanwhile, ANPTA asserted it will not tolerate such kind of action in future.

Ganja worth Rs. 7 lakh seized

Kohima, May 19 (MExN): Kohima Police manning Khuzama inter-state police check gate seized around 140 kg of ganja worth Rs. 7 lakh in the national market. The contraband was being transported in a Chevrolet Sail bearing registration number NL07C-8600, informed a press release from Atu Zumvü, SDPO (South) & PRO, Kohima. In this connection, one person identified as B. Paona (21) of Tungam Afu village in Senapati, Manipur was taken into police custody and a regular case vide Khuzama P.S Case No. 007/2017 U/S 20 (b)(ii)(C) NDPS Act was registered against him for conducting further investigation, it added.


Governor condoles

Kohima, May 19 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya has expressed shock and sadness over the sudden demise of Union Environment Minister Anil Madhav Daveon on May 18 in New Delhi. In a condolence message issued by his PRO, the Governor described Anil Madhav Dave as a devoted public servant who was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment. His contributions to the cause of environmental   protection shall always be remembered, Acharya stated. The Governor further conveyed deepest sympathy and prayers to the bereaved family and all near and dear ones.


AR apprehends alleged arms dealer

Zunheboto, May 19 (MExN): Troops of 5 Assam Rifles apprehended an alleged arms dealer from DC Colony, Zunheboto on May 13 “along with warlike stores”. An AR release claiming this identified the individual as one Hukheto Kiba (38 years), a resident of Ashukhomi village under Zunheboto district. The individual along with recovered items was handed over to Zunheboto Police Station on May 14.
