Kohima Police arrest two

Kohima, October 17 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel manning Peducha check gate arrested two persons on October 13. Around 4:00 am that day, the police personnel during routine checking and frisking of vehicles intercepted one Bajaj Pulsar 150 on suspicion while it was proceeding to Kohima from Dimapur. The bike’s lock was found to be broken, it had no proper bike key, and the number plate was also broken, stated a press release from Joseph Hesso, IPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Kohima. On questioning the occupants had no proper explanations and were accordingly arrested and case registered under Zubza P.S for investigation, the release said. The arrested persons have been identified as Likiri Sangtam (30) and Thiyaba Sangtam (20). The bike had engine number DHZR9B61476 and chassis number MD2A11CZ79RB11231. The release informed that WT message has been sent to various Police Stations for lost reports.

 

Tovihoto calls for environment friendly Diwali celebration

Kohima, October 17 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, Tovihoto Ayemi has extended joyous greetings on the occasion of Diwali – the festival of lights symbolising the triumph of light over darkness. “Let this symbol be exemplified in our daily lives defeating the social evils with good deeds towards all people,” Tovihoto stated in a message. “On this occasion, let us all put in more efforts for a peaceful atmosphere and strive towards peaceful co-existence.” He called upon the people for celebration of the festival in an environment friendly manner.

 

DDCF extends Diwali greetings

Dimapur, October 17 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) has extended Diwali greetings to all citizens of Dimapur. Joseph Lemtur, President, DDCF hoped that the festival of lights will bring about great changes in the society and a new era of peace, unity and brotherhood will prevail in the society.

 

Naga student wins national level painting contest

Kohima, October 17 (DIPR): Ruopfüzhazo, a Class X student of Northfield School, Kohima, was adjudged winner in the national level painting competition held on the theme ‘Exploring New Worlds in Space’ at Earth Station, Shadnagar, Hyderabad on October 8, 2017. Altogether, 28 students representing different institutions from across the country took part in the contest. Winner of the state level quiz competition from Northfield School, Kohima also participated in the national level quiz contest. The event was organized by the National Remote Sensing Centre, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) celebrating the World Space Week.

 

Review meeting on PC-PNDT Act held

Mokokchung, October 17 (MExN): The third quarter review meeting on PC-PNDT Act was held at Chief Medical Officer’s office chamber, Mokokchung on October 17. Legal matters relating to PC-PNDT Act was highlighted by Akumyanger, LLB. Dr. SS Akaba Longchar, CMO Mokokchung, who chaired the meeting, directed all the unregistered USG operators in the district to get their machines registered along with a duly filled affidavit stating not to conduct USG examination against the rule laid down by the Supreme Court of India. The different rates for registration and renewal were highlighted by Dr. Kibang, Dy. CMO Mokokchung. This was followed by a short discussion on the issue. The meeting was attended by the doctors having USG facilities in the district.

 

IDD Prevention Day at Kohima Village

Kohima, October 17 (DIPR): The Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) Prevention Day cum declaration of the first ‘Non-Iodised Salt Free Village’ (Kohima Village) will be held on October 21 at Kohima Village Council Hall at 2:30 pm. The programme will be held under the theme ‘Prevent Mental & Physical Growth Retardation, Consume only Iodised Salt’. State Programme Officer, NIDDCP, DHFW, Dr. Akuo Sorhie will speak on ‘Iodised salt and its importance’. Dr. Aseno Rhetso, ZLO (CMO Kohima) will speak on ‘How iodine deficiency leads to IDDs/Storage/use of STK’. Keynote address will be given by Chairman, Kohima Village, Dr. Neiphi Kire, while Director (Health), DHFW, Dr. Menguosielie Kire will give the declaration. The programme will be chaired by Secretary, Social Welfare Board, Daisy Mezhur.
