NFR achieves 2nd position amongst all zones in overall performance

Maligaon, December 4 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway has achieved the 2nd position amongst all the zones of Indian Railways in the recently concluded half yearly performance review by Railway Board for the period from April to September, 2019.

 

This mid-year review of the performance of all zones vis-à-vis targets has been carried out by the Railway Board as per the MOU signed between Ministry of Railways and all the Zonal Railways for targets to be achieved by the Zones in various areas like earnings, loading, punctuality, infrastructure creation, capacity utilization, asset maintenance & reliability, HR development etc in the financial year 2019-20.

 

In the MOU there are total 42 parameters with marks ranging from 0.8 to 10 distributed against each item. While NFR achieved 65.88% marks in the overall performance, Eastern Railway topped with 66.74%. And North Eastern Railway came third with 64.33%. NFR’s performance was noteworthy in segments like Originating Passenger Traffic, where it got 8.0 marks and in Originating Freight Loading where it got 7.8 out of 10. In Punctuality NFR got 3.9 and in Safety performance 3.8 out of 5 which are also very encouraging. Similarly, in new line construction parameter, NFR got 3.0 out of 5.

 

During the period from April to September, 2019 NFR carried 5.1 million tonnes of originating freight against last year’s actual for the same period of 4.7 million tonnes. During the period, NFR renewed 53 kms of track against the target of 41 kms set by Railway Board. Similarly, during the period, 790 passenger coaches were overhauled against the target of 743.
