NFR installs ‘Digital Museum’ in 22 stations

Maligaon, October 11 (MExN): The Signal & Telecommunication department of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully installed ‘Digital Museum’ in all the nominated stations of NFR.

 

Digital museums are being launched at various railway stations across the country in line with the Rail Display Network (RDN) policy, a press release from Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR stated.

 

As per the RDN policy, it stated that high-tech centralized network of display screens are planned at major stations by 2021.

 

The Railway Board is also planning to set up digital museums at important stations all over India.

 

The screens, which are installed on platforms, waiting rooms and other important areas, also highlight information related to arrival, departure, running status, the particular platform where any train would halt at, as well as the positioning of coaches, in multiple languages.

 

Digital Museums are used to display railway heritage to make the citizens aware of the great legacy of Indian Railways apart from other digital displays for the benefit of railway passenger within railway premises.

 

Over 40 short films on heritage buildings, locomotives, train stations, hill railways, and other subjects have been provided by the Heritage Directorate of the Railway Board to make people aware of railway’s heritage.

 

Emergency messages and information related to disaster management will also be highlighted through Digital Museums.

 

During the current year, eight Digital Museums were installed in various stations like Jorhat Town, Lumding, Dimapur and Silchar etc. With this, all the targeted 22 stations of NFR have been provided with the Digital Museum.

 

In addition, big size LED Display Boards for indicating Train Arrival & Departure along with indicative platform number have also been provided at many important stations during the current year.

 

More stations will be provided with such indication boards which are better than the conventional boards due to their enhanced visibility from a distance, it added.
