NFR observes 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Maligaon, October 2 (MExN): The 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed with day long activities in all railway stations and railway establishments over NF Railway.

 

The day started with administering pledge on “Swachhata & Non-use of Single use plastic” by Sanjive Roy, General Manager, NF Railway at Maligaon and by Divisional Railway Managers in their respective Divisions. Floral tribute was offered to a photograph of Ganhdi by the General Manager and other senior officials. It was followed by tree plantation and offering of “Shramdan” for cleanliness and collection of plastic waste from stations, tracks and other railway premises.

 

Prabhat Pheries and Nukkad Natak were also organised in various locations to inform and educate general public about non use of single use plastic in day to day life. Audio campaign through FM channels, Audio-visual campaign through cinema halls were also carried out within the jurisdiction of NFR so that the message on cleanliness reaches the maximum strata of our population.

 

Large numbers of railway employees, officers, Scouts & Guides and school students participated in the Shramdan of today throughout NFR in connection with the “Swachhata Hi Sewa” initiative.
