NFR observes Swachhta Pakhwara

Maligaon, September 24 (MExN): As part of the ‘Swachhta Pakhwara’ which is being observed all over Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), railway stations, trains, work places and residential premises are being cleaned by offering ‘Shramdan’ by all sections of railwaymen.

 

Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer in a press release stated that intensive cleaning of identified trains was undertaken by team of officers and supervisors during the special drive.

 

During the last few days, running trains as well as stabled rakes at pit lines, washing lines etc were inspected and their toilets, linen, pantry car inside/outside areas were specially looked into.

 

The release added earlier, all important stations were also cleaned by railway employees by offering ‘Shramdan.’

 

During station cleaning drive, segregation of waste, use of dustbin, and avoidance of single use plastic were ensured.

 

Similarly, to improve cleanliness in railway premises, drives were also launched in railway colonies, rest houses running rooms etc. The railwaymen also undertook tree plantation drive.

 

It may be mentioned here that the campaign has been launched by NFR as part of the country wide drive to educate people through IEC (Information, Education and Communication) activities about the use of Bio-toilets, resisting use of plastic in railway premises and observing good sanitation habits by avoiding open defecation etc for keeping railway track clean.

 

For this, NFR has already started awareness campaign through banners, posters, display advertisement, nukkad nataks, audio jingles through FM channels, audio-visual clips through cinema halls and campaign through social media platforms throughout NFR so that all section of people can be reached.

 

As part of the Swachhta Pakhwara, each day up to September 30 is being observed targeting monitoring and improvement of different aspects related to cleanliness & hygiene.

 

The special drive will continue with full participation and cooperation of railwaymen in all the divisions of NFR.
