NFR’s RPF arrests 6 suspected thieves

Guwahati, December 2 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Northeast Frontier Railways have cracked several cases of theft of passenger’s belongings from November 18 to 21and has arrested 6 persons in the process, an official release said today.

 

The first arrest was made on November 18 when a team of RPF/Katihar conducted checking at Katihar Railway Station against anti-social elements.

 

Two person were arrested and six stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession, informed the release issued by NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer,  Subhanan Chanda.

 

They were handed over to Government Railway Police of Katihar for further prosecution, it said.  

 

Meanwhile, on November 19, a RPF team of Guwahati, while escorting Nagaland Express from Guwahati to Lumding,  apprehended two persons and recovered 2 cameras, 9 mobile phones, 5 SIM cards and a wallet from their possession, it added.

 

In another case on November 20, the RPF personnel along with CIB and CPDS team of Guwahati conducted checking at Guwahati Railway Station and arrested one person with a stolen mobile phone, the release said.

 

The sixth arrest was made on November 21 when one person picked up along with two stolen mobile phones in his possession.

 

The apprehended people were later handed over to Government Railway Police in Guwahati, it added.

 

Meanwhile, the release further informed that RPF of NFR also rescued as many as 13 minor children during the period from November 18-24 from different stations and trains and handed over them to their respective guardians or NGOs.

 

In addition, 2 touts were apprehended during drives conducted against touting activities at Alipurduar and Sorbhog on November 23, the release said.
