NGBF meets Nagaland CM

  Kohima, August 21 (MExN): A three-member delegation of the Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) today met Nagaland State Chief Minister TR Zeliang at his office chamber, Civil Secretariat, and apprised him of their recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.   This was informed in a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office. The NGBF delegation submitted copies of their memoranda addressed to the Prime Minister of India and Centre’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks RN Ravi.   NGBF President L. Shalem Konyak presented a Bible and a Law Book to the CM for the latter’s support and financial assistance.   NGBF General Secretary Shikuto Zalipu congratuled TR Zeliang on his comeback. He also informed that the 15-member GBs delegation met R.N. Ravi , Th. Muivah and Kholi Konyak separately in Delhi to urge them for including all stakeholders in a final solution.   On the issue of Rongmei tribe recognition, Zalipu informed the CM that they held talks with the Nagaland Tribes Council during which the Council clarified that they were not opposed to recognition of 1313 Rongmei and their ancestors who settled in Nagaland before statehood in 1963. In this connection, Zalipu urged the CM to implement the cabinet order so that children of the early Rongmei settlers do not suffer.   Zalipu also cited the allotment of plot for construction of office for NGBF at Old DC’s Office that has been pending in Secretariat office for long. The delegation also requested the CM to issue a vehicle for the Federation.   The CM, meanwhile, assured the delegation a look into the matter at the earliest and urged them to play a constructive role towards unity of all Nagas. He expressed hope that the Centre would work out a formula for inclusiveness of all stakeholders before signing a final agreement.
