Kumlong residents urge for quality work
Mokokchung, January 13 (MExN): The Kumlong Ward Yimden (Council) and the Kumlong Lanur Telongjem (Kumlong Youth Organization) have acknowledged the Nagaland PWD (National Highways) and the Vertex Construction for constructing the National Highway 702-D that passes through heart of the colony.
The stretch of NH 702-D (Mariani–Mokokchung road), which is the economic lifeline of Mokokchung and her neighboring districts, has been in a pathetic condition for the past many years. However, the road is being repaired on a war-footing much to the relief of the colony residents and also the heavy truckers that ply on the road, stated a joint statement issued by Kumlong Ward Yimten Secretary Masasosang Jamir and Kumlong Lanur Telongjem Asst. General Secretary Limasashi Longchar.
Keeping in mind the importance of the road to the colony residents and the general public, the Kumlong Ward Yimden and the Kumlong Lanur Telongjem, held a meeting with the PWD (NH) officials and also the contractors of Vertex Construction, Atoka and Bendang on January 13, 2017 and shared the aspirations of the colony residents. The PWD (NH) was led by Executive Engineer, Er Chubatoshi whilst the Vertex Construction was represented by the contractors – Atoka and Bendang.
The Kumlong public, while appreciating the department and the Vertex Construction, for giving importance to the stretch of road, also apprised them to construct the road as per the specification laid down by the government. The Kumlong Yimden and the KLT also assured all cooperation to the workers while carrying out their works and asked them to carry out their works without any inhibitions.
It may be noted here that Kumlong Ward is one of the biggest and most densely populated colonies in Mokokchung town. The NH 702-D which cuts across the colony has constantly been in a pathetic condition due to the plying of heavy trucks; with this repair of the road, the overall beauty of the colony is also set to be improved and also ease the troubles the motorists, especially the heavy truckers who have to ply on the road on a daily basis.
