NIIT receives Dataquest ‘Top IT Training Company Award 2010’

Dimapur, January 3 (MExN):  NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Top IT Training Company Award 2010’ by the country’s leading IT publication- Dataquest. NIIT has been receiving the coveted award successfully for the last 17 years since the magazine introduced this category.
NIIT received the award for its talent development initiatives across the world, in the year 2009-10. In its annual IT industry survey, leading IT magazine, Dataquest reports that NIIT continues to be the leading player in the category. NIIT’s revenue of Rs.1199 crores in 2009-2010 formed 24% of the total IT education market in India, informed a press note. It also stated that on receiving the trophy at the award function organized by Cybermedia group, in the capital recently, G. Raghavan, President- Individual Learning Solutions, NIIT Ltd. said, “We are pleased to receive this prestigious award, as recognition by the Industry of our continuous efforts to provide innovative solutions in IT Training across the world.”
The Indian IT education market has grown by 3% to reach Rs 4983 crore in FY 09-10, whereas e-Learning grew 4% with Rs 1721 crore in the year. Within the IT training market, Individual training segment recorded a turnover of Rs. 1370 crore and corporate training grew by 5% to reach Rs. 1892 crore. The year 2009-10 saw NIIT establishing several new milestones across divisions. NIIT’s School Learning Solutions (SLS) added 2,812 schools, taking the total tally to 15,000 schools in its decade long journey. NIIT also formed strategic alliances with IBM and SAP to provide the latest IT curriculum to its students. It reported an impressive 25% growth in placements during the year 2009-10. Continuing its endeavour to build a skilled and employable global IT talent pool, NIIT set up operations in Bhutan, Maldives and Columbia. The total students intake across all geographies including India cumulatively in the individual and school learning business has been 5,00,000, with 2,500 new education centers added globally, it stated.
It also mentioned that established in 1981, to help the nascent IT industry overcome its human resource challenges, NIIT has today grown to be amongst world’s leading talent development companies. The company continues to provide innovative range of programs as a solution to manpower needs in the IT industry.  Moreover, NIIT’s MindChampions’ Academy, a joint initiative by Grand Master Viswanathan Anand and NIIT to promote Chess in schools, has contributed significantly in the recent world record in simultaneous Chess.
