Nikhekhu villagers celebrate Tuluni

Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): Nikhekhu villagers observed Tuluni festival with pomp and gaiety as they indulged in various cultural events on July 8 at village ground to mark the culmination of the weeklong festival.  

Aheto Yepthomi, personal secretary to G. Kaito Aye, Minister for Agriculture and Co-operation represented the minister on the occasion as Tuluni Father as the latter could not grace the programme owing to official engagements.  

Aheto conveyed Kaito's festival greetings to the villagers. He called upon the villagers to uphold the rich and diverse cultural heritage of forefathers, informed a press release. He also encouraged imbibing peace and unity among the people, adding that peace and unity lead to all round development of a society.  

S. Vihuto Yepthomi, president, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Tokuho Suhoi Neho, president, Dimapur District GBs Association, and G. Shikavi Zhimomi, president, Ato Area GBs Association were among others who joined the celebrations. 

Leaders and elders of neighbouring villages were also invited to the event.  

Viyito, pastor, Nikhekhu village Baptist Church said the invocation prayer for the cultural gala. Isawoto Zhimomi, village chief welcomed the dignitaries, V. Victor, chairman CBC proposed vote of thanks and Ilito, associate pastor pronounced the benediction. Associate pastors Khelito and Ayeto conducted the programme.
