The Nagaland state election office was yet to register a single nomination for election to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2018 as on February 1. N. Moa Aier, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland informed today that not a single nomination of candidature has been received since January 31. While the call for ‘solution not election’ could be a cause, Aier, citing earlier elections, said that contenders have been known to file nominations only towards the last few days before the nomination period closes. The filing of nominations opened on January 31 and will close on February 7. Scrutiny will be done on February 8 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 12. Aier added that candidates can file their nominations on working days from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
