NIPF files RTI on appointment of OSDs & consultants in state govt

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) has filed an RTI query with the office of the Nagaland State Chief Secretary seeking information regarding the appointment of retired government servants as consultants/OSDs.  

It its RTI query, the NIPF observed that in recent years, it has become a trend and practice in the state of Nagaland that retired officials/employees are appointed as consultants/OSDs “by totally ignoring the current unemployment problem and in blatant violation of the statutory service rules framed under the Constitution of India.”  

It asked how many such appointments were made in the various departments and the Nagaland Civil Secretariat till date, with appointment orders, terms and conditions, renumeration and name of the department.  

The NIPF also asked that the reasons and necessity for such appointments be made available and whether the department’s relevant service rules prescribes for such appointments. It further questioned who the approval authority is for such appointments and from which financial sources and head/demand number the payment to these appointees are made.
