Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): Owing to its location, Niu Colony in Dimapur, this is situated near railway tracks and also bordering Assam, is used as transit route by smugglers to smuggle liquor and other banned items such as ghutkas including drugs into Dimapur.
A press note received here stated that the colony council has been keeping vigil to prevent illegal goods from being smuggled into Dimapur through the colony and in the course of action, colony council members on Friday seized bottles of liquor and packets of ghutkas were being smuggled from Lahorijan in Assam. The confiscated items were burnt by the council on Saturday.
In this regard the Niu Colony Council has cautioned that anyone caught smuggling banned and illegal goods into Dimapur though the colony
