NLSF seek Governor’s help for establishment of a public law college

DIMAPUR, JUNE 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) on Tuesday called on Governor PB Acharya who is also the Chief Rector of Nagaland University (NU) and submitted a representation for establishment of Government Law College and Law Department in NU.

According to a press release issued by PRO to Governor, the NLSF said there are no public law colleges in Nagaland despite frequent appeals. The three law colleges in the State are all private owned. The Federation also stated that the student community in the State were facing immense hardship, particularly poor students, to study law courses in the State. It opined that if such a step was taken to establish a public law college, it would serve the interest of the law student.

Governor Acharya later spoke with Vice Chancellor, NU and enquired on setting up of Law Department in the University. The VC informed the Governor that NU has already written a proposal to the UGC for approval of setting up the department and was waiting for the reply. The Governor is also learnt to have assured the NLSF that the copy of the representation will be forwarded to the CM and the concerned department.
