NMPO rubbishes ESU alleged claims

Senapati, September 22 (MExN): The Northern Maram People’s Organization (NMPO) today rubbished the alleged claims of the Makhan (Ekhramei) Students’ Union (ESU) that appeared in the local dailies on the alleged attack on the people of Makhan in Manipur.

NMPO in a press release stated that the ESU has broken all norms of “composing lies.”

It stated that few groups Makhan people had from the beginning of “their concocted theories” came to dramatize the “claiming of land from Maram ancestral land.”

It rubbished claims of the alleged attack on September 17 that “that doors of those dismantle house structures were locked from outside with an intention to burn the inmates alive.”

It further clarified that no students studying in Don Bosco College Maram were purportedly threatened. “This version, can be well explained by the apex students’ bodies officials – Maram Students’ Union (MKS), Mao Students’ Union (MSU) & Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) who, after immense suspicion…were prompted to have first hand physical spot visit and inquiry into the rumors at the College,”  the release added.

After witnessing the normal, peaceful and conducive environment of the college campus and the students, the students’ bodies left, it clarified.

“Or in any case(s), the security, peaceful atmosphere and credibility of the College, supported by the local populace are well-known,” the NMPO further claimed, adding that dragging the good name of the College into the present issue, was “totally irrelevant and uncalled for.”

On another issue raised by the ESU on the power shut down in Makhan Khuman and neighboring areas prior to September 17 incident, for 3-4 days, it assured that they would ask for clarification from the officials and employees of the power station.

The NMPO assured their “full co-operation to investigate into the matter in finding out the truth by going into the bottom.”

However, the NMPO held that “such attempt of blowing out of proportion with whims & fancy views defame all public institutions located in our area.”
