No maintenance of roads to hydro project

Kiphire, April 29 (MExN): The Public Forum Pungro Sub- Division (PFPSD) on Saturday expressed disappointment over the non- maintenance of roads leading to Likimro Hydro Electric Project (LEHP). It appealed to the Nagaland State Government and its Power Department to take appropriate measures to look into the matter.

“People are facing untold hardship and suffering owing to pathetic road condition for the past many years,” stated the PFPSD President, S. Kiusumew Yimchungrü, in a press release today.

According to the Forum, several road mishaps have happened in the area recently, with travelling passengers getting grievously injured in such accidents. The road is maintained, it informed, by various civil society organizations from time to time assisted by the administration “from their own contribution.” In the rainy season, the road deteriorates further leaving heavy vehicles unable to ply due to mud slides.

The Forum hoped that the road maintenance would be done at the earliest “to ensure better road communication in the areas for the common profit of the people and society at large.”
