In a welcome move, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) in collaboration with Music Task Force Nagaland today launched musical concert campaign on ‘No to plastic! Yes to Clean election!’ here.

Kicking start the campaign here today at High School junction, KMC administrator Kovi Meyase said this campaign aim to create awareness to the public to stop or minimize the use of plastics in pursuance with the state government's declaration on restrictions on use of plastic in November 2018.

The attempt and pursuit is to attract and advocate the message of plastic waste management and ban the use of single use plastics in Kohima through the medium of music, he said.

He called upon the public to prepare themselves to resort to use' 'green alternatives.'

Meyase said the campaign will cover all the 19 wards and a few prominent locations in the town.

The campaign will next touch Bayavü on March 21 at 5:00 PM, followed by March 22- North Block, March 23-  Naga Bazar, March 24- Kitsubozou, March 25- D’Block, March 26- Daklane, March 27  - New Market,  March 28- Midland, March 29- Officers Hill, March 30- PWD, Lower & Upper Chandmari, March 31- Dzuvüru, April 1- AG, April 2- New Minister’s Hill, April 3- Agri-forest, April 4- Para Medical and April 5- PR Hill.

Mentionably, the KMC had in October/November last year undertaken a sensitization campaign in all the 19 wards, where KCCI and AMK also actively involved in February this year.

The backbone of this movement in the capital city is The Green Team Kohima comprising of some young and dedicated volunteers.

The Green Team also organised a week-long workshop on paper and cloth bag making for all the 19 wards that incidentally concluded today.
