No withdrawal, four Lok Sabha candidates finalized

50 companies of central armed forces, IR, NAP to be deployed for the elections

Nagaland’s Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha, IAS today said that there were no withdrawal of candidature in case of Lok Sabha polls to Nagaland Parliamentary constituency on last date for withdrawal of candidature today and accordingly the list of the contesting candidates has been finalized.

The finalized contesting candidates includes; Tokheho Yepthomi (NDPP), KL Chishi (INC), Hayithung Tungoe (NPP) and Dr MM Thromwa Konyak (Independent).

Talking to media persons in his office chamber, Sinha said that KL Chishi has been allotted with the symbol of Hand, Hayithung Tungoe- Book, Tokheho Yepthomi- Globe and Dr MM Thromwa Konyak- Trumpet.   

He said the process of printing the ballot papers will now start which will be used in EVMs. Postal ballot preparation has also started.

The ETBPS for service voters has also been finalized and that is being transmitted electronically, he said.

He informed that more than 50 companies of central armed forces including IR, NAP, home guards and village guards will be deployed for the elections.

On vehicle requisition, he said that more than 750 vehicles would be coming from Guwahati by April 5 or 6. He said that the overall law and order situation is quite peaceful till date. There has not been any untoward incident anywhere, he said.

In connection to the liquor seizure as on March 28, it stands at 46, 480 litres, worth about Rs 1.59 crore in the market. Seizure of cash remained the same as Rs 69, 57, 740 till March 28, informed CEO.
