Normal running of trains affected

Maligaon, January 8 (MExN): The “rail rook” agitation called by the Adivasi Sengal Abhiyan and Jharkhand Desam Party have affected the normal running of trains under the North East Frontier Railway (NFR).   The two organizations called for a 12 hour bandh on January 8 against “Land Acquisition Bill of Central and Jharkhand Govt and Anti Conversion Bill 2017”. Agitators are blocking railway track in Adina, Dalkhola, Arariya and Buniyadpur stations over Katihar Divisions of NFR, a press release from the NFR informed.   As a result, the NFR controlled controlled/ cancelled/ regulated 30 trains. The affected trains included the Dibrugarh - New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12423) which was controlled at Panjipara at 8:20 am and the New Delhi - Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (12436) which was controlled at Katihar at 10:26 am.   While 10 other trains were controlled, 17 trains on Monday were either short terminated or cancelled owing to the agitation, the NFR informed.   “The Katihar Divisional authorities are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that passengers of detained trains have access to drinking water and light refreshments in trains and in stations,” it added.
