SONAPUR, AUGUST 1 (MExN): The annual North East India Inter College Debating Competition, organised by Sonapur College of Kamrup (M) district of Assam, will be held on August 24, Thursday, at the college premises from 10:30 am. The topic of the debate is, in the opinion of the house “View that North East India is being exploited by the Central Government is factually incorrect”. Renowned Columnist, Poet and Editor of Nagaland Page Monalisa Changkija will be the Speaker of the competition. The winners of different positions of the competition will be awarded with Sinam Uriba Singh Memorial Prizes which contain trophies and cash awards. Accordingly, the best and the second best debater will be awarded with Rs 10,000 and Rs. 7000 respectively, while the third best debater will receive Rs. 5,000, besides memorial trophies. Similarly, the best team and the second best team will be honoured with Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 and the memorial trophies. Moreover, the popular English daily The Telegraph will also offer a special prize in the Competition, titled, ‘The Telegraph Unputdownable Debater of NE India Inter College Debating Completion- 2017’.
