Now NSCN (K) joins the anti-Aadhaar bandwagon

Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): The NSCN (K) today imposed a “ban” on Aadhaar card in “Naga inhabited territories with immediate effect”. The decision, a NSCN (K) MIP press release stated, was enforced after “taking numerous reports of common public grievances into account” as a result of “making Aadhaar mandatory for various governmental and non-governmental agencies.” “All the Aadhaar registration agents are directed to immediately close down the booths and immediately cease the activities,” it said. The NSCN (K) also asked various “government and non-government departments and agencies operating in the Naga inhabited territories including the financial institutions… not insist on Aadhaar or make Aadhaar mandatory for any job applications or other services.” The common public is also asked to refuse registration, it said. There will be surprise checking anywhere, it added.
