NPCC demands resignation of health & family welfare minister

Dimapur, November 3 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has condemned what it called “unbecoming conduct” of the Health & Family Welfare Minister Imkong L Imchen in “physically assaulting” the Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare.

A press statement from NPCC Media Cell demanded immediate resignation of the minister “to avoid bringing further disrepute to the office he holds.” In the event of the health minister clinging on to his chair, it stated, the Chief Minister should sack him from the Cabinet “or else the Chief Minister and the entire Cabinet would be held responsible for legitimizing his uncivilized conduct.”

“After having learnt the details of the incident, it is very clear that the minister concerned has crossed all limits of decency by a senseless act that cannot be just wished away by tendering mere apology,” NPCC maintained.

“It is a disgrace to the people of Nagaland that such people are allowed to become minister again and again while his misdeeds continue to grow,” it added.

NPCC meanwhile alleged that after 15 years in government, “the arrogance of the NPF and its leaders has reached such a point that they have no hesitation in even physically assaulting senior government officials.”

Further, it accused the government of “sheltering the accused minister and denying true justice to the Principal Director and the entire medical fraternity.”
