NPCC misleading people of Nagaland, alleges former Congress members

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): Former members of the Congress Dimapur unit who recently joined the Rio-led NPF have reiterated their “principled position” that “we recognize our freedom of choice.”

In response to the press statement of NPCC published on November 6, they said the former DDCC members led by the former president had been working in tandem in recent years to promote better understanding with the NPCC and to foster enhancement of methods in the coming election.

“However, it is very unfortunate that the NPCC has stooped to such a level by alleging the former members as opportunist, defectors and migratory birds,” lamented a rejoinder from Hollohon Chishi, former general secretary (Adm), Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC).

It referred to its earlier press release which mentioned that they joined the Rio-led NPF “unconditionally because of their active involvement in expediting the Indo-Naga peace process.”

With regard to NPCC calling the former Congress members as opportunist, defectors and migratory birds, the rejoinder stated “had we been an opportunist we would have shifted our loyalty long back. But we have upheld our ideologies and principles of Indian National Congress believing that the working system of the NPCC President will be as per its principles.”

As claimed by former Congress members, it said, “lack of inner democracy which took a partisan political position stirred up disagreements and the unprecedented act and autocratic functioning of the NPCC President made us take this decision to resign from our rank and file.”

The rejoinder further reminded the NPCC that whatever decisions taken were all as per the laid down rules and copies of resolution with appended signatures were sent to the AICC.

“Therefore, covering our guilt and shameless actions does not arise. Rather, instead of letting facts be known the NPCC is misleading the people of Nagaland because of its inability to produce records and thus targeting the former Congress members who has taken a bold decision to resign which is just the beginning,” it added.
