NPCC mourns demise of IBM Lutjakai Kuki

Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): NPCC General Secretary, S Athang Chongloi has mourned the demise of Pu Lutjakai Kuki, one of the last surviving persons of the Interim Body Member (IBM) Nagaland who passed away at Zion Hospital, Dimapur on the October 13. 


Chongloi in  a condolence message stated he was one of the tallest leaders of his time from the Kuki Community in Nagaland who had “represented us in the IBM, Nagaland from 1961 — 1963 and also one of the pioneers and founding members of the creation of the statehood of Nagaland as the sixteenth state under the Union of India.”


He established the only Kuki township of Ahthibung town in the year 1958 where he lived and finally rested after leaving his native village in Tening sub-division from where he was born and grew up. 


He was one of the founding members of the Zeliang Kuki Public Organisation (ZKPO) that spear-headed the demand of Peren sub-division for a full fledged district in the 1980s. He was also one of the founding members of Peren College, the message added. 


Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace. It further prayed that God grant peace and comfort to the bereaved family and find joy “for having a loving father who stood for his people when they needed him the most.”
