NPCC prez meets Ravi; bats for early solution to Naga political issue

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 22 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president  K Therie called upon the Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi on August 21.

A press communiqué issued by the NPCC stated that during the 45 minutes meeting, Therie, reacting to Ravi’s recent statement that the Prime Minister was desirous of concluding the negotiations to the Naga issue within three months also expressed that the people are equally desirous for early solution.

Drawing strength from past history on the role of Congress and its erstwhile founding fathers on statehood and the role of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in enabling the present peace and negotiations by assuring talks without pre-conditions 28 years back on May 19, 1991 at DDSC ground, Therie expressed satisfaction that peace has dawned in Nagaland and nearing final settlement that has been awaited for decades.

Therie reiterated that what the people want today in is peace, development and opportunities for children and youth, who are now scattered all over looking for jobs. He also said the people deserve livable infrastructures like others in the world.
While urging the Governor to proclaim the solution at the earliest, Therie on behalf of Congress ranks, files and all well- wishers assured support to the solution.
