NPCC reiterates stand on JMFC transfer

Dimapur, May 26 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today reiterated that “the sudden arrangement of cross transfer of Judicial Magistrate First Class Peren and Phek, has created doubts on the functioning of the judiciary.”

Reacting to NPF rejoinder on its earlier allegation, the NPCC Working President P. Ayang Aonok in a press statement said it was “very unfortunate that” the NPF has dragged the name of the High Court into the issue stating that “transfers and postings of Judicial Magistrates were strictly done or ordered by High Court and not state government.”

NPCC was expressing concern to the competent authority on the cross transfer of Judicial Magistrate First Class Peren and Phek, it further implied.

The ongoing contention between the NPCC and NPF has erupted over Chief Minister T. R. Zeliang educational qualification matter “which was referred to the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Peren by Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, and the subsequent transfer of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Peren.

In its response to NPCC’s allegation, the NPF had stated that, “transfers and postings of judicial magistrates were strictly done or ordered by High Court and not by State government” and “the department or authority concerned has carried out the exercise in line with the approved normal procedure.”
