NPCC says govt neglecting Kohima-Chakhabama road

DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today pulled up the State Government for its negligence of the Kohima-Chakhabama road.  A press note from the NPCC President, K Therie said that this road, which leads to Zuneboto, Phek and Kiphere Districts, has been “deliberately abandoned after the NPF led BJP-DAN Govt came to power in Nagaland.” “The portion between Chakhabama to Kohima has turned into a waterway. On good days, it takes about 30-40 minutes. Today it takes 2-2.30 hrs if luck favours without breakdown,” the NPCC said. This situation, the NPCC said, is an “insult to the elected members and the people from Zuneboto, Phek and Kiphere Districts.” “This road has been in use since the British Rule. It is one of the most economically important roads. The negligence is not only an insult to the people but is an act of economic strangulation. It is an economic offence against the people.” We do not believe that the Government has not given funds for maintenance. It is because of misuse and corruption, the NPCC alleged. The NPCC cautioned that if the responsible departments do not act within 30 days, it would “take a course of appropriate action to get justice.”
