NPCC to take part in voluntary Bharat Bandh on Sept 10

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) will take part in the voluntary Bharat Bandh on September 10 to protest against the daily rise in prices of petroleum products. A press note from the NPCC media cell stated that this rise in fuel prices has not only placed a heavy burden upon the public, but put their livelihood in acute danger. It invited all like-minded political parties and NGOs to support the call of Bharat Bandh demanding to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST, “which will reduce prices by at least Rs. 10-15 per litre.” “We appeal for the reduction of VAT and Central Excise which has increased since May 2014 by 443.06% on diesel, by 211.7% on petrol and on LPG, to ease the burden on the common man,” the NPCC said. It also called for active participation of public from all sections of society to be a part of this “peaceful and voluntary Bandh and to send a clear message to the GoI that the suffering of the people has reached its zenith, by voluntarily closing shops from 9:00am to 3:00pm.”
