NPF accuses PDA govt of ‘sheer negligence’ in all fronts

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 16 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has accused the PDA government of sheer negligence in paying heed to all fronts of development activities and failing miserable to exercise in handling and order situation.

Terming the present dispensation in Nagaland as “rudderless and paralyzed” and the state seemingly in “an emergency state of situation,” the NPF in a press communiqué on Saturday pointed out some points to press their argument.

The NPF stated that the tall promises of the NDPP led PDA government of good roads to the people was reversing with the worsening road condition all over the state and particularly the highway between Kohima and Dimapur which is at a very hazardous condition.

It pointed out that in the past, the leader of NPF Legislature Party had written to the Chief Minister and also to the managing Director NHIDCL appealing them to look into the matter of maintaining the existing road.

However, the appeal fell on deaf ears and now the High Court has taken up a sou moto case against the delay of work and poor condition of the road, it said.

On this, the NPF appreciated the High Court for taking up sou moto case on the 4-lane construction between Kohima-Dimapur and giving the direction to ‘directionless PDA government’ while adding that it is a matter of major embarrassment that the state of affairs has come to this point where court has to intervene.

The NPF at the same time alleged that the PDA government is paying less heed to the ongoing road projects which were brought about and initiated under strict specifications and time frame. On top of failing to bring any notable new projects, their insensitivity to the hardship of the people of the state has led to negative impact and the progress of the works are hindered and behind the schedule, it stated.

The NPF also alleged that the “Ministers and the Advisors in-charge, starting from the CMO are in a hurry collecting huge percentage from contractors and their concern department wherever normal flow of Central schemes are available.”

Further, it stated that the unceasing release of additional funds in the name of improvement of roads and other reasons was benefiting only a select few people who have close affinity to the CM or Ministers. The NPF warned that this will “sooner than later bring about an emergency like situation in the economic state and the state exchequer.”

Towards this, the NPF has recommended that the Governor or the High Court also take up sou moto cases and “save Nagaland from being plundered further.”

The State Lokayukta may also take up the mantle of investigating and “not just be an agent of the government and enjoy the perks for being a mute spectator to the rampant corruption taking place,” it added.

The NPF also pointed out that the only Airport in Dimapur is now taken over by the IAF and the state chopper service which is operated by the Nagaland State Transport department was halted for days without any intimation to the commuters. On this issue, the state government paid little or no attention to this issue and watched helplessly, it said.

Stating that the state government is more or less inactive and in deep slumber to the things happening in the state regarding the law and order situation, the NPF claimed that the Governor is now taking up the mantle of governing and taking care of law and order situations.

The NPF party has therefore demanded that before the state deficit is driven down to a situation where there would be nothing much to be done to help it, a remedial step should be taken up by the Governor or the High Court.

It also advised the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleague to resign on moral grounds as rampant mis-governance is taking place and they have lost all moral authority to continue in office.
